On the day when Green Day officially returned, naming their new record (“21st Century Breakdown” – sounding good already huh?) I thought it was a good opportunity to remind everyone why this band is so damn important. Yeah they got too big and it is boring to like a band that’s hugely popular, and it isn’t “punk” to say you like them, but really, fuck off. American Idiot was amazing and will go down in history as hugely influential, both musically and socially. Remember that these guys picked up the political baton before it was cool to do so.

So here’s the video. Is it the best video ever made? Has to be close. I could also have posted the “Wake Me Up When September Ends” video, the full version of that never fails to make me cry, but this one is rarely seen so is more fun to post.
